Interview Marguerite Bornhauser, Photography, Paris

Where are you living?

In Paris, France

How old you are? (if you don’t mind answering)

What inspires you?

The sun ! A glimpse of light on a face, colors at the end of a sunny day, the shadow of a branch, Jim Jarmush, a lot of music too, literature, photo books, drops of water on the body of someone coming out of the sea, shapes, materials, windy times, and of course all sorts of art, especially abstract painting.

Tell me about what you do?

I’m a photographer. I have different practices of photography, the first one is my art work – I do mostly series of pictures. The current exhibition is in the museum Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) in Paris related to literature and film noir. I also do photo books. The other kind of photography I do is working for press – mainly doing portraits and photo coverage for french and english newspapers and magazines. Recently I started working in fashion, doing editorials and campaigns for brands.

What’s the structure of a typical day like for you?

Every day is so different from the other (and I love it this way) sometimes I have a shooting for press and work in my studio for my art, the other day is a fashion shoot, etc.

What are some of your favourite sources for information?

Travelling, being curious, asking questions, reading, listening

How does social media influence your life?
