Timo Schuster

Interview Anna Bu Kliewer, Artist

How old are you?
32, does this matter?

What inspires you?
Usually walking the city, I often wear coloured sunglasses to view things slightly different.
Architecture and interior design inspires me in terms of shapes. I love looking at other people’s art, but struggle to use it as an inspiration, it often confuses me.

Tell me what you do?
I cut paper for a living, I am an illustrator/collage artist.
I create artworks for advertising, magazines, social media as well as my own exhibitions.

What’s the structure of a typical day like for you?
It really depends on the day. Many deadlines are for Mondays and Fridays, those are my busiest days in terms of working on visuals. I usually work on weekends, my Friday is a Wednesday most weeks.
I walk almost every day, go to charity shops to look for new material as well as just books to read.
I meditate every day, this has been my regular for almost a year.

What are some of your favourite sources for information?
Books, news printed or online and social media. I don’t really listen to podcasts.

How does social media influence you life?
It influences me creatively and personally. As mentioned before I get inspiration from most things other than art, colour is the biggest part.
Social media has also helped my career as clients get in touch as they’ve seen my work on Instagram, students email me as well as photographers to collaborate.
